This is the Grapevine, a collection of community events we can attend to support one another, grow and make 2008 the year we Shine. Events coming up this week are as follows:

Thursday June 5th
LCPA presents New Orleans:Spirit a’ Risen a discussion about the challenges New Orleans artist face in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Street artist Veronica Leandrez and Bedonna Wakeman will be in attendance. Come see their art at the Pickford Theater Madison Bldg. Third Floor of the Library of Congress from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Saturday June 7th
Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure 5K Walk/Run will be in Washington, DC on the National Mall this Saturday. To sign up to be apart of this wonderful event or learn more on http://www.nationalraceforthecure.org.

Come share a Day of Celebration as the Ladies of Sisters4Sisters launch their Wellness Center for those in need throughout our community. The grand opening & ribbon cutting ceremony is June 14, 2008 from 11-3pm. For more information visit www.sisters4sisters.com

emma’s revolution (a musical uprising of truth and) returns to Loudoun June 21, 2008. The benefit concert will be held at St. James, 10 East Broad Way in Lovettsville, at 7:30 pm. A backstage pass party with the artists and a silent auction will begin at 6:00 pm. On June 22nd Sisters4Sisters, Inc in collaboration with the Beauty Industry will Discuss and Distribute information and resources on Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention and other Needed Services designed with Women and Girls in Mind. Along with a program entitled Mondays with a Mission, which provides complimentary hair and beauty services for Women and Girls in Need and in Life Transition.
