I think it's fair to say that, on the subject of depression, mental issues, and creativity, I can let you know about my upcoming live stage performance, "DISORDr, The Play," this Saturday night in Silver Spring.
It's about a character named Pakrat Patty, who is a Hoarder.
Hoarding behavior screams from cable “docu-reality” TV. Disposophobia is the stuff of Oprah and of the April book release "Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things." DC Politico news insider Mike Allen suffers from collector-itis, as did New York’s historically infamous Collyer Brothers, recently novelized by E. L. Doctorow (author of "Ragtime").
Now, live on stage, Pakrat Patty, the hoarder in “DISORDEr,” comes out of the clutter closet. Conceived in Laura Zam's Solo Performance Lab, “DISORDEr,” an uncannily recognizable and potentially alarming encounter with hoarding behavior, humanizes and humorously leavens the “clutter component” of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (“O.C.D.”) and was featured at the 2010 International O.C.D. Foundation Conference.
